How to place a commission
If you would like to commission a portrait please email me at hello@emilymcconaghy.art and I'll be happy to discuss the process in detail. The prices below are for one subject. I tend to do very simple backgrounds so as not to distract the viewer from the main focus in the foreground, additional subjects require an additional charge.
Quotes for that can be given once I've seen the image(s) in question. Please let me know if you don't see the size that you are wanting.

The most important thing is to ensure you have a very good, high quality photograph of your subject so that I can capture the details. This should be in natural light (ideally outdoors) within 2 meters and at eye level of the animal, please see the guide below on how to take a good reference photo. It's best to take lots of photos which we can go through together to decide the best angle to base the portrait on.

How to take a good reference photo
I work from a reference photo. The best photos are taken with the highest resolution you can do on your smart phone or if you know someone with a good camera- even better.
Outside in natural light will ensure I can see the true colours of the fur. Bend down low so that you are at eye level with the animal. Take several photos of your pet so I can try to ensure I capture them as best as possible. A good question to ask yourself is whether you can see enough detail of important areas, such as the eyes or fur. Look to see which way the fur flows. You may want an unusual position if this really captures the personality of your pet, as long as it is in focus and has enough detail, this is absolutely fine. It is your special portrait!

Custom Wildlife
I'd love to work with you to create a custom piece of artwork from one of your wildlife pictures. Please send me an email or use the contact us button to discuss this.
Payment
Once we have agreed that you would like to go ahead and commission a portrait, I require a 25% deposit to secure the booking. Please let me know at this stage if there is a deadline for the painting.

You can pay me in installments if you wish. You can pay me through two installments after the initial deposit, the first when I show you initial outlines of the composition and the second upon completion. I will send you photos along the way to ensure you are happy with the progress. I will email these via an invoice.
Delivery
Shipping costs vary depending on size and weight but typically the cost is no more than £10. If you are local to me, then we can arrange to deliver by hand.
Framing & Care of your art work
Art work that is done using pastels have the option of also being mounted. However, if you are going to get your artwork professionally framed, the framer will mount it for you. Having the work professionally framed is highly recommended to ensure it is properly protected and will last a lifetime. There are many different framing options available and as such I usually leave it up to the owner to frame. I can recommend an excellent framer local to me in Winchcombe, Cotswolds.

For oil or acrylic paintings, they will arrive varnished using a satin Gamvar varnish to ensure the artwork's longevity and remains well protected. You may need to gently dust from time to time with a damp cloth. Paintings will arrive to you unframed. You do not need to frame them but a frame can really help to enhance a painting and help with hanging on the wall.
